Description

The IT Based Educational System (SEI) is a complex program initiated by the Ministry of Education and Research in 2001, aiming to offer ITC support for the Romanian education system.

The program supports the objectives of the educational reform, in conformity with the eEurope 2005 action plan initiated by the European Union and with to the European eLearning initiative.

SEI is implemented by a public-private partnership. The main companies involved in the SEI implementation are SIVECO Romania, HP Romania and IBM Romania.

The Romanian Ministry of Education and Research published the SEI White Book in November 2004. The summary can be read here.

Activities

SEI's main guidelines were drawn up equally by the local environment and financial constraints and by the EU methodologies implemented in the countries already using such programs.

Over 530 electronic lessons developed for SEI can be downloaded here for free for class use.

The subjects approached in the multimedia educational materials were selected by Ministry committees and SIVECO Romania.

Awards and Nominations for SEI !

European IT Excellence Awards 2008 - A new European recognition for the SEI Program (The IT-Based Educational System)
The European IT Excellence Awards 2008, promoted by the prestigious publication IT Europa, reward every year the most efficient software solutions dedicated to business and governmental organizations.

The eGovernment Experts Awarded The National Education Database (NED) Project the ePractice.eu "Good Practice" label

The project that was submitted for the European eGovernment Awards 2007, received the ePractice.eu Good Practice label, recognition that is only given to a maximum of 10% of the cases that were submitted in the competition. The Good Practice label is an acknowledgment of the excellence, credibility and quality of research proven by the National Education Database (NED) Project.

The International Project Management Association

The rigor of implementation and the success obtained in the field of introducing IT into the Romanian Education System have impressed the IPMA (The International Project Management Association) jury, which recommends SEI - The Romanian IT based Education System, as one of the most important achievements in the field of project management.

AeL Educational Content won the World Summit Award

At the World Summit for Information Society, organized last year in Tunisia, SIVECO received the World Summit Award in the eLearning section, as a recognition of the creativity and quality of the educational content developed for the IT Based Educational System, a nation wide program for over 700.000 pupils and teachers.

Honourable Mention for SEI/Ael program at „eEurope Awards for eGovernment”

At the „eEurope Awards for eGovernment” 2005 edition, The Ministry of Education and Research was awarded for implementing AeL eLearning Platform at the undergraduate educational level, the product being highly appreciated for its impact in the education area and for the possibility to be used as a model for other countries.

AeL Nominated for the IST Prize

The European Commission recently announced the IST Prize nominees, among which is the eLearning platform AeL, developed by SIVECO Romania.
The IST Prize is the equivalent of an Academy Award for IT.
